Sugarcane Bagasse Fibers for Enhancing Moisture Susceptibility Properties in Stone Mastic Asphalt
نویسندگان
چکیده
Stone mastic asphalt (SMA) mix amended with sugarcane bagasse fibers (SBFs) as a stabilizer was investigated experimentally in the present study. The SBF content combination varied (0, 0.15%, 0.30%, 0.45% and 0.60%) to produce different mixtures. prepared mixtures were then assessed for properties, such Marshall stability, tensile strength, draindown, which are crucial performance of flexible/bituminous pavements. experimental results revealed enhanced stability flow value, greater filling voids bitumen, reduced air SMA SBF. In addition, improvement strength observed. An increase ratio also susceptibility entry moisture into pores by performing draindown test, that exhibited due presence Therefore, it inferred inclusion beneficial enhancing achieving higher resistance penetration. study demonstrated use an active ingredient would result improved flexible pavements while reducing waste burden landfills aiding effective management.

Stone Mastic Asphalt Pavement Technology for the New Millennium
Since the 1960s, Stone Mastic Asphalt (SMA) pavement surfaces have been used successfully in Germany on heavily trafficked roads. Because of its excellent performance characteristics, road authorities in Germany as well as major European Countries quickly adopted SMA as a standard wearing course. As a consequence of an asphalt study tour in Europe of an American delegation in 1990, SMA test sec...
متن کاملStone mastic asphalt: assessing the effect of cellulose fibre additives
& Currently, in the UK, there is considerable interest in the fact that a German bituminous surfacing mixture known as stone mastic asphalt may possess levels of in-service performance that resist the growing incidence of premature failure experienced by traditional materials such as hot rolled asphalt. A high stone content grading requires the use of a stabilizing additive to ensure long-term ...
متن کاملEffect of Fibers on Mixture Design of Stone Matrix Asphalt
Lignin fibers typically influence the mixture performance of stone matrix asphalt (SMA), such as strength, stability, durability, noise level, rutting resistance, fatigue life, and water sensitivity. However, limited studies were conducted to analyze the influence of fibers on the percent voids in mineral aggregate in bituminous mixture (VMA) during the mixture design. This study analyzed the e...
متن کاملEstimation the Fatigue Number of Stone Mastic Asphalt Mixtures Modified with Nano SiO2 and Nano TiO2
Asphalt modification/reinforcement has received considerable attention as viable solutions to enhance flexible pavement performance. This is mainly prompted by the unsatisfactory performance of traditional road materials exposed to dramatic increases and changes in traffic patterns. This paper presents the evaluation of fatigue behaviour of nano reinforced Stone Mastic Asphalt mixtures. Fatigue...
متن کاملMacroscopic constitutive law for Mastic Asphalt Mixtures from multiscale modeling
A well established framework of an uncoupled hierarchical modeling approach is adopted here for the prediction of macroscopic material parameters of the Generalized Leonov (GL) constitutive model intended for the analysis of flexible pavements at both moderate and elevated temperature regimes. To that end, a recently introduced concept of a statistically equivalent periodic unit cell (SEPUC) is...
